Chaos at Howe Community Park Results in Four Victims Wounded in the Arden-Arcade Section of Sacramento County

Law enforcement in Sacramento are examining a shooting that erupted late Saturday at Howe Park in Sacramento as deputies were shutting down an unsanctioned gathering of an estimated several hundred individuals.

How It Started

Deputies initially got calls about Howe Park at approximately 6:30 in the evening after receiving reports of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Not long after, a follow-up call was made describing a possible physical fight breaking out inside the park.

Air support flew over the park but found nothing to substantiate the fight report. Even so, authorities discovered that Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 hundreds of people had assembled at the park without any permit or approval.

When the Shots Rang Out

Responding units worked to disperse the crowd by encircling the gathering and announcing over their public address systems directing attendees to clear out. Around 15 minutes were given for individuals to vacate.

It was during this dispersal that upwards of 20 gunshots echoed through the night. The barrage of gunfire sent the crowd running in all directions. Responding personnel wasted no time in locating gunshot victims.

Four Victims Hospitalized

Altogether, four gunshot victims were located with gunshot injuries. The victims — consisting of one woman and three men each apparently in their mid to late twenties — were airlifted or driven to hospitals in the Sacramento area. Emergency physicians stated that two had critical injury classifications, one person had injuries of a moderate nature, and one sustained minor gunshot wounds. Thankfully, all four victims survived and were stable.

Metro Fire Sacramento provided support and aided in treating shooting victims prior to hospital transport.

What Investigators Found

Most of the gunfire seemed to have been concentrated on Cottage Way near the Home Depot located at the 2200 Howe Avenue block. Investigators recovered extra shell casings on the Cottage Way roadway. Round impacts were noted in the metal fencing adjacent to the Home Depot. These discoveries pointed to that at least one of the shooters had been sending rounds south from along Cottage Way in the direction of the Home Depot. The nearby Home Depot was temporarily locked down during the incident. CSI investigators and detectives worked tirelessly through the early morning hours.

Arrests Made

Information obtained over police scanner frequencies revealed that a Kia vehicle was intercepted in Solano County. Four individuals were detained. Deputies were en route to collect those detained to pick up those detained for further questioning. Footage analyzed by investigators established that two individuals had fired weapons.
